How will DualLink data benefit you?

Rig operators will see benefits in drilling optimization and efficiency, reservoir characterization and information as well as automation.

Through the provision of data drilling will be optimised with enhanced ROP and pressure optimisation, delivering smoother and better placed wells.

With geosteering imaging the reservoir characterization can be better determined, seismic can be carried out while drilling and sample / fluid evaluation can be conducted faster (?).

Downhole data will enable optimised rig control and auto well control. Both of which should result in less costs and improved well integrity. Closed loop??

Service companies 

During well development large bandwidth enables the use of deep reading tools for reservoir mapping while drilling, giving better well placement decisions therefore ultimate recovery. 


Increased amounts of FE data from BHA tools will allow improvements in petrophysical and geophysical analysis including porosity determination and fluid identification.

Through production, data will enable teams to provide improved advice on real time adjustments to surface controlled elements, such as the hook load, RPM, flow rate etc, to improve ROP, adherence to well plan and hole quality.  The transmission of high fidelity images from FE tools will also improve decision making while geosteering.


Drilling efficiency can also be improved with look ahead tools with large bandwidth tool with the benefit being reduced uncertainty ahead of bit (pressure zones), and therefore ability to drill faster, and possibly adjust csg points and/or eliminate csg strings


Closing loop at surface to surface element controls, for continual response to changing conditions.


By bringing data downhole, drilling mechanics & well control can be significantly improved for:

Drill time savings can also be considerable as a number of hours of rig time are used telemetry, data handling and troubleshooting procedures with conventional mud pulse technology and traditional drill time. DualLink can alleviate a large portion of this time consumption by:

  • Reducing downlinking

  • Reducing directional surveying time

  • Reducing shallow MWD testing time

  • Reducing memory dump time

  • Reducing MWD / RSS trouble shooting time


Drilling optimisation and efficiency can also be improved during P&A as DualLink has the ability to replace ball operated operations. In addition, real time monitoring (TOC) can be carried out giving you the ability to measure the temperature during the hardening process to eliminate the need for tagging. Similarly, during cementing, annulus cement verification can take place in real time.

In relation to reservoir characterization & information, fields with significant geosteering challenges can benefit from increased and accelerated production as a result of improved well positioning.
